Blogging

Blogging can be used in the classroom for multiple things. Fact is, our youth loves technology. Using blogs is interactive and a great way to integrate technology into our classrooms. Students get to express their individual identities while creating a classroom community. From experience, I've noticed students typically write more on their blogs and on replies than with paper and pencil responses. Blogs can also be used to demonstrate and present work that has been created. Assignments can be posted on blogs as well as examples. One beautiful thing about blogs is that anything can be linked to it. I've created  another blog last semester which demonstrates some things I've used Blogger for. A simple yet productive activity I like to do is posting an article on a blog and having the students reply. To extend the activity they can find a video that supports their ideas and attach the link. As I've said before, options are endless when blogging.

If the link doesn't work..

    1. Thanks you! Everything took a while since I had no idea what I was doing the first day but it was well worth it.

  2. Very true, using technologies our students' motivation will be increased. Although I am afraid that we have to learn how and when we use technologies. Certainly, we have to teach our students to use these new tools, as they will need them in their lives but if we use them everyday in our class, wouldn't they become "normal" and at some point boring for them? I think that we are in a really good moment to increase the presence of technologies in the classroom to a certain level that it is still something special and surprising for the children. We should not abuse of them, as we want our students to be encouraged to use them.

  3. Hi,Victoria, I really enjoy reading your post. I totally agree with you that we can create infinite possibilities when blogging by using the little links. The main idea of blog is sharing. Through blogs, students and teachers can work together to add endless amazing resources for learning. It really a great way for this digital era and students who really enjoy technologies nowadays.

  4. I would have to agree with what you said about students often writing/sharing more via blogs than in pen and paper journals. The style of writing and interaction seems to be something that is more comfortable or familiar for them, which does tend to encourage participation. If you've used blogs with classes before, do you have any suggestions for how to keep responses "appropriate" or keep discussion civil as it unfolds?

  5. I agree with most of your opinions, and I am thinking of a question that whether those cyber language should be permitted to use in students' blogs. Since students may be starters of their L2, will learning and using cyber language have negative effects on their learning?

  7. Hi Victoria,
I really like your blog post about the idea of using a blogs in the classroom and why they have become so important. The use of technology is so important in the classrooms today and with our future students because they live in a different world than when we were growing up as students. I think that blogs are interactive too and I like your idea of how you would use blogs in your classroom by posting an article on a blog anf having the students reply, what a great idea! I also like your idea of including a link to a video for the students to view. Technology and the use of blogs is so important and I am so glad we agree that it can be used in the classroom in multiple ways.
